Peak travel season: Mid Oct to May
- Tourist season is during winter and spring
- Relative more expensive even for budget hotels
- Advise to make prior reservations
- Khamsin wind, warm wind tt blows in fr desert and carry sand and dust. Runs bet Mar and Apr
Off peak season: May until October
- Fairly high temperatures esp in Luxor and the southern parts of Egypt
- But offers relative peace and quiet travel
Season to avoid: During Ramadan
- Many restaurants are closed
- Alcohol disallowed during the month, esp during the daytime
- Shorter visiting time as all tourist sites close 1 or 2 hrs earlier than usual
- Resembles a month-long festival.
- All coffee shops are packed at nite and stay up till the early morning hrs
