THE musical element of PerhapsLove has been played up,but on screen the music takes a back seat to the love story,which is portrayed with such sensitivity that
everything else in the film seems superfluous.
Directed by Peter Chan, Perhaps Love revolves around actors Lin Jiandong (Takeshi Kaneshiro) and Sun Na (Zhou Xun). Once an aspiring director,Lin was deeply in love with Sun until her pursuit of fame interfered with their relationship and she dumped him.
Years later, Lin is a successfulactor and Sun is the muse of acclaimed director Nie Wen(Jacky Cheung).
Their paths cross again when he is cast opposite her in Nie’s new production, a musical that has a plot uncannily similar to the story of their lives.
And so the line between real and reel blurs: The musical becomesa medium for the former lovers to accomplish in fiction what they cannot do in reality: Confront the raging demons of their past relationship.
The Moulin Rouge comparisons are obvious, since the feel of the musical in Perhaps Love seems inspired by the burlesque elements of director Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film, as does the choppy editing.
But the musical is more like a distraction here. As is Cheung’s supporting role as a director frustrated with his craft,a story arc that is never fully developed. Korean actor Ji Jin Heeas Monty, a wandering spirit who merely observes humanity, is another odd addition.
In essence, Perhaps Love focuseson the way people behave when they’re in love, emphasising the fact that this single emotioncan encompass remembrance,forgiveness, selfishness, longing and denial.
Each of these layers is articulated through two soul mates whose world views are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The actors’ performances are superb. Kaneshiro’s character is vulnerable, but he also lends a maniacal, dangerous air to the lover who cannot let go.
As the one who wants to put the past behind her, Zhou tempers the outward cruelty of her character with a heartbreakingquietness that can be seen easily in her expressive eyes.

張學友昨晚再踏上台北巨蛋舞台，續演《雪狼湖》音樂劇，感冒已康復的學友，聲線完美，響徹場館，獲觀眾拍爛手掌大讚：「歌神回來了！」
昨日下午綵排時，學友為保聲線維持最佳狀態，非必要盡量不說話，以保護喉嚨，雖然《雪狼湖》因學友重感冒而兩度押後演出，但並沒影響票房，只有少量退票，而被退回的門票，亦迅即售出，足證台灣觀眾對學友的支持，而十二月十二日是《雪狼湖》巡迴演出第一百場的特別日子，主辦單位計畫大事慶祝，慰勞台前幕後工作人員。

【明報專訊】
陳可辛導演的歌舞愛情電影《如果．愛》，是今年華語片壓軸大製作之一，聖誕前搶先開畫，票房一枝獨秀，未有對手。實際成績怎樣呢﹖的確有聲有色，影像靈活，節奏感強，劇情亦不落俗套，但盪氣迴腸的戲劇性感染力不足。以上海和北京為背景的《如果．愛》，雪花飛舞，水中浮沉，徘徊於懷舊酒店和電車路上，鮑德熹攝影有可觀情調，張學友(新聞 - 網站 - 圖片)、金城武(新聞 - 網站 - 圖片)等歌唱傾情，金培達、高世章（尤敏之子）的音樂熟練，唯獨印度歌舞片專家編舞，則缺乏發揮機會，亦剪得太碎，不過最後空中飛人的效果不錯。
此片由林愛華、杜國威編劇，構成相當特別的多面體戲中戲。其一是紅牌導演（張學友）、女星（周迅(新聞 - 網站 - 圖片)）和男星（金城武）合拍大型歌舞片時發生三角戀﹔其二是那歌舞片的情節﹔其三是十年前一段舊情。頭尾還有旁觀者（池珍熙(新聞 - 網站 - 圖片)）的第四面。
陳可辛大玩時空交錯，雖然不大通俗，但玩得有型，不少影迷亦習慣花多眼亂，看下去便清楚劇情。全片除了男女之愛，還有迷戀電影之情，跟愛情一樣悲歡離合，很痛苦仍然難捨難忘。
十年前的迷情是核心，現在企圖重證舊情，覆水重收，也可能是報仇陰謀，成為懸疑高潮。故事編排頗有心思，顯出影壇名利場的人情冷暖，以及中國開放走資一些現實諷喻。
問題是那段舊情不大真切動人，再續情緣的發展則拖泥帶水。整體就花巧多，感觸多，劇力卻薄弱

《如》中多?具力与美的歌舞，得?功印度歌舞?作大?Farah Khan的?舞。印度人在歌舞片的制作技巧和??水平有杰出?展，《如》歌舞?面?丰富，但?看?印度歌舞片《有?快?有?悲?》（Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham）的????，《如》的缺憾仍是歌舞?面不?多，看得不??。
歌舞片一定要??院看：歌舞片的?史悠久，第一部有??影《爵士歌王》（The Jazz Singer）就已用唱跳?交代故事情?，歌舞片1950年至1980年在好??鼎盛一?，近期《醉心芝加哥》（Chicago）是好的回光返照，但后?几部“跟?”的西方歌舞片?在?不忍睹。
?有??影30年代??中?后，已有??歌舞的?面在?影中出?，例如《歌?春色》。上海?影人50年代到香港也??歌舞形式，陶秦?的《?翔?舞》是?懋首部歌舞片，?懋歌舞片六七十年代?到全盛。港歌舞片80年代已?落，若硬要套上“歌舞”??，唯有90年代郭富城与?慧琳的《仙???》。
